FURTHER INFO
The livery descriptions, list of names, depot and pool codes are here, but at some point I'll also be adding a historical overview of the class and some technical specs for the locos as well. Some brief notes below, although all these pages are also accessible from the menu at the top of the page.
The livery codes are 3 letter short codes describing the ever growing list of liveries carried by the 66 fleets of each operator. These are used in the fleet list to keep the pages uncluttered from lot's of text.
With the majority of the DB Cargo UK fleet carrying the old EWS livery, many have started to have their old EWS lettering and branding removed, in preparation for the eventual repaint into DB colours. There are many variations of this hybrid livery, with some having DB logos applied to cabs, some with no branding at all, etc. Once the large EWS lettering has been removed from the bodyside, I have considered this a single livery (code EWU in the list) independent of EWS / DB cab logos, as there are too many subtle variations to record them all separately.
The list of current names is a comprehensive list of all names carried at present, along with the date each was named, where known. For the few cases where the date is not listed there, if you know this information please get in touch so I can update the list.
As can be seen from scanning the list, GBRf account for the majority of names, despite having only the third largest fleet (78 locos) behind Freightliner and DB Cargo UK. A handful of locomotives used to carry names but no longer do, and in some cases locos have carried 2 names at different times in the past. This list represents the current state of affairs.
The depot codes includes a list of all current depots with UK, or former UK class 66 allocations. These are referred to on the fleet list page. A significant number of locos are based in France or Poland. Whilst the french locos occasionally return to Toton for maintenance, (as Euro Cargo Rail is a subsidiary of DB Cargo UK) the polish ones do not as, apart from the further distance involved, they operate under DB Cargo Poland which is a separate company. Note also that all locos of a given operator, in a given country, are all based in one location now.
The pool codes page details the fleet allocations of class 66's as per UK TOPS pool codes. My intention is only to list pool codes on this page that have at least one loco assigned to them. In some cases (particularly DB Cargo UK, but also Freightliner UK) these allocations can change on a fairly frequent basis. Despite this, I'll try to keep the pool codes on the fleet list as up to date as I can.
